(Brooklyn - March 13, 2008) The Board of Directors of VNR Home Care Services (VNR) has named Mary Jane Gigatti, M.P.A., to serve as interim President and Chief Executive Officer in the wake of Maxine Hochhauser's resignation from that position. Ms. Hochhauser is leaving VNR to take a similar position at a multi-state, for profit home health care organization based in Boynton Beach, Florida after serving two years with VNR.
VNR is a non-profit home health care provider which serves the elderly, frail, disabled, and ill throughout the five boroughs of New York City and Westchester County.
"Mary Jane Gigatti is a highly regarded veteran health care financial executive who has been Chief Financial Officer of three major medical institutions," said Thomas Alberto, Chair of the VNR Board. "She has a proven ability to run an efficient and effective health care organization. While we are disappointed that Maxine will be leaving VNR, the Board of Directors is confident that Ms. Gigatti will keep the agency on its current track to success as we conduct a nationwide search for a new President and CEO."
Ms. Gigatti has been a financial executive in health care for more than 30 years. She is the former Chief Financial Officer of Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation. Before that, she served in the same title for United Presbyterian Residence. She is a former Comptroller at the Parker Jewish Institute, and held positions in the controller's offices of St. Francis Hospital and the Medical and Health Research Association.
A resident of Port Washington, New York, Ms. Gigatti received her Masters in Public Administration from Long Island University at C.W. Post, a Baccalaureate of Science in Accounting fro St. John's University, and certification as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator.
