Assemblyman Richard Gottfried (D-Manhattan), chair of the New York State Assembly Health Committee, recently accompanied VNR President and CEO Maxine Hochhauser and VNR Long Term Nurse Coordinator Margaret O'Brien on a home visit to patient Christine Purvis. Ms. Purvis has been receiving care from VNR for two years for chronic asthma. Since becoming a VNR patient, she has avoided the repeated hospitalizations she used to endure because of flare ups of her asthma, especially in the winter.

Brooklyn - New York State Senator John L. Sampson and VNR Home Care Services (VNR) teamed up late this fall to offer free flu shots to residents of Brownsville, East New York and Canarsie at The Christian Cultural Center. VNR registered nurses administered free vaccinations to all takers in the community who were interested in receiving one. Senator Sampson is the ranking Democratic State Senator on the Senate Health Committee and has a strong commitment to improving overall community health through preventative care such as flu shots.

(Brooklyn) - VNR nurses and staff, in cooperation with Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz's office, continue their efforts to vaccinate community residents against influenza. VNR Home Care nurses administered nearly 200 free flu shots during a clinic at Brooklyn Borough Hall. Judges, lawyers, law students, clerks, court officers and other professionals from the community took advantage of the event to safeguard against catching the flu this season. So far this flu season, VNR has given away free of charge nearly 700 vaccines, with several more flu clinics scheduled.

There is no cost to you. You need this year's flu shot to protect you from this year's flu. No reservations, shots given on first come, first served basis.

Brooklyn - October, 2007- In recognition of Home Health Care Month (November) New York State Senator Martin Golden, Chair of the Senate Aging Committee, recently accompanied VNR Home Care Services (VNR) on a home visit in Brooklyn. Joined by Maxine Hochhauser CEO of VNR and Beatrice Consolo, VNR Field Supervisor, Senator Golden visited the home of Mrs. Daphne Katsomalaris, a VNR patient since 1979.

On October 2, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz rolled up his sleeve and received his annual flu shot at a Say Boo! to the Flu booth.
